Good heavens! She's seven!

Dear Bryanna,

Yesterday, you told me you were really excited to turn 7, but also a little sad, because you wouldn't be 6 anymore, and that means you're getting older. This is bittersweet for us too, we're so excited to watch you grow, but feel a pang of sadness that you're not little anymore.

I missed writing on your 6th birthday because of recovery. So there's a lot to catch up on in 2 years!

I don't even know where to start.

When you turned 5, your tantrums would last anywhere between 30-90 minutes. Your dad and I were so lost and didn't know what to do. We finally sought help from Lois. To say our lives have never been the same would be an understatement.

What started out as fixing a problem, turned into a lot of self reflection, gaining new tools, and a complete lens change to see you and your siblings as who you truly are.

5 and 6 were BIG years. You started Kindergarten, showed moderate anxiety through the school year as you navigated through 10 different teachers. You came through the other end and entered Grade 1 with more confidence than we had seen you the whole year prior. Your best friends now are Ava and Nicole and you guys are basically wanting to be triplets every.day.

You lost your first tooth some time after turning 6. You were determined to learn how to swim and told me this summer that you had a dream you learned how to swim one night. You jumped into a pool and voila! You really figured out how to swim on your own.

Your went from playing Subway Surfers to Minecraft. You went from watching Sam and Cat to Alvin and the Chipmunks. Your favorite princess is still Merida from Brave (where you may or may not have the same fiery determination as her!).

You got into a couple commercials this past year! You've enjoyed them so much, you told me the other day, you want to direct commercials when you're older.

You got into hockey and you are thriving. You picked up skating like a pro and I wish I skate half as well as you do, lol.

Recently, you found your fashion sense. You started dressing the same color from head to toe. Things must match, or we can't get out of the house. Can I just say how expensive this has been so far? Hahahaha.

And now here we are. You are 7. I've always said that when you love, you love big. You have the best, most contagious laugh. When you hug, you really mean it. You are not afraid of your emotions and will tell us even when you feel really embarrassed about something. You have no problem telling us when we're wrong. And will ask a million questions until you understand (I can already hear you say "well, not A MILLION questions"). You are black and white and keep us honest.

There are simply no words Bryanna, to tell you how much you have changed us. You have asked us to step up as parents, to look at ourselves honestly, and to be vulnerable in who we are.

In short, you have helped us heal ourselves, so we can be the best versions of ourselves.

Imagine your impact at 7, and how much more you will change in years to come.

Happy birthday Bree. I love you, to infinity, and beyond.

Love, mom.
